The entire body is connected!
Having a structural imbalance anywhere in the body such as the feet and pelvis can create an imbalance in the spine leading to tension of the head and neck muscles, subsequently leading to grinding and tension in the jaw musculature. Realigning the entire body with chiropractic care is essential for the long-term relief of TMJ syndrome.
Specific Treatment to the TMJ:
Unique treatment procedures Dr. Light utilizes include:
- Chiropractic manipulation/mobilization of the TMJ
- Muscle therapy to the internal and external muscles of the jaw
- Mobilization of cranial sutures
- Nutritional counseling
Dr. Light's TMJ Story
If you suffer from TMJ syndrome, I know exactly how you feel! How do I know? I got into the field of chiropractic because of my TMJ.
I had significant jaw pain that started back in 2006. After going to numerous doctors with different specialties and not receiving any real answers, I was finally diagnosed with TMJ syndrome by an E.N.T. His solution, "don't chew for 3 weeks." Is this the best advice? I wasn't so sure. Either way, it was the best advice I had so I went with it. After 4-5 days on an unhealthy liquid diet, I started getting sick and was desperate for better answers. At this point, the inflammation around my jaw created compression of my facial nerve leading to Bell's Palsy (paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face). I was told that maybe a chiropractor could help. Skeptical, I felt I had no other choice so I went to a recommended chiropractor for the TMJ. This changed my life! Changed my life to the point that I became a chiropractor and learned everything I can to effectively treat the TMJ. I have had no more issues with my TMJ or Bell's palsy! Treating patients with TMJ syndrome is what I am passionate about. Stop living in pain! TMJ syndrome is treatable and you are only one phone call away!
